Influxis Introduces New Online Media Player Based On the Open Source Media Framework for The Adobe Flash Platform

(PRWEB) June 24, 2010 -- Influxis, a leading hosting and application development company that utilizes the Adobe® Flash® Media Interactive Server (FMIS), today announced the Influxis Video Player, a new media player based on the Open Source Media Framework(OSMF). Based on an open framework, the new media player is compact, just over 100 KB, and features a wide set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for extensive customization.

“Our goal was to develop a media player that was light and fast, easy-to-use, comes packed with features and can be fully customized in any text editor. We wanted it to load videos without the annoying loading bar. I think it’s the lightest media player out there,” said Joe Lopez, the lead developer for the Influxis Video Player.

The Influxis Video Player can stream videos-on-demand, live videos, live DVR videos using Adobe DVRCast API, YouTube videos and will be able to deliver the new media delivery protocol based on the Adobe Flash Platform and HTTP Dynamic Streaming videos. It also incorporates the Dynamic Streaming capability that automatically adjusts and serves the appropriate bit-rate media based on the user’s internet connection speed in real-time for optimized streaming. Its APIs include customization for video (RTMP, HTTP, etc.), auto play, volume, control panel, buffer, logo display, smoothing, aspect ratio, YouTube quality, skin appearance and more.

Supplementing Influxis’ current video player builder in the Influxis admin interface, the Influxis Video Player features an easy-to-use builder user interface for custom video players. In addition to the features listed above, it also includes custom logo placement, video player sizing, player control button options, and more.

“OSMF was established as an open framework so that companies like Influxis could easily develop a customizable media player and give their customers the best video experiences on the Web - without worrying about the fundamentals for video player deployments,” said Scott Wellwood, director of business development for Dynamic Media at Adobe. “The Influxis Video Player will enable developers and media companies to focus on developing, delivering, and monetizing their content, rather than focus on the nuts and bolts of media player development.”

OSMF is an open framework established to accelerate the creation and delivery of high-quality video and interactive experiences. The open aspect of the framework enables collaborative development focused on web video monetization, with lower costs and faster turnaround. It promotes the sharing of open standards and best practices for media player development through an open source library.

“The Influxis Video Player is a culmination of our desire to build a solid and versatile media player for our customers,” said Richard Blakely, the CEO of Influxis. “Yet is it simple to use and provides a great new tool for advertisers, developers and others who use video in their websites.”

The Influxis Video Player is the latest addition to Influxis’ current library of pre-built applications, including the recently introduced TVStation, VideoBroadcaster, CamChat, LivePresenter, PresenterChat and other interactive applications. It will also soon be fully open sourced and available for customization and redistribution under a Creative Commons License.

The Influxis Video Player is currently free to download for non-Influxis customers at http://labs.influxis.com/?p=808 and the customizable builder version is available to Influxis customers from the Influxis Admin interface.
